EKKLESIA—Part Four. A. Brother ©2010-18 Narrowgate Publishing

Specific instances of our need to ‘play church’ instead of being the “called out people of God that gather together”:
1.In regard to places of worship, and our need to build cathedrals and sanctuaries, Jesus replied clearly to the Samaritan woman’s concern about where she should worship:
“Believe me, woman, the time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem…a time is coming when and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks.God is Spirit, and His worshippers must worship in spirit and truth.”--John 4:21-24
So how impressed is God with our cathedrals and temples and sanctuaries? Not the slightest bit.We build them for ourselves, not for Him.He is to be worshipped in Spirit, and by our obedience to the truth. That is true worship, not gathering together with pomp and ceremony, with flags flyin…

EKKLESIA—Part Three. A. Brother ©2010-18 Narrowgate Publishing
I am not a biblical scholar.I have spent a lifetime reading and studying the Scriptures, and until recently, it made very little difference in my life.I had grown up doing church, and lived most of my adult life doing church, so I am familiar with everything in our “Christian subculture”.I’m here to declare that one can spend a lifetime in the church, but not know the power of God in his life.I was truly an “evangelical of evangelicals”, by birth, by lineage, and by profession.Yet I became lost, a man burdened with sins and anxieties, in constant pain; unable to find solace from his brothers, or help within the institutions we call churches.I became completely disillusioned by the gap between what I read in Scripture—this rich life Christ promised us and the early ekklesia I saw there—and our current church life. God called me back, and reached out with His love to me. And when the Holy Spirit reaches out and fills us, when God…

EKKLESIA—Part Two. A. Brother ©2010-18 Narrowgate Publishing
Those of us who’ve grown up in the “church” must be the first to question what we’ve been taught and test it in the Light of God’s Word for ourselves, no longer accepting the word of those shepherds who exist at the beck and call of those who pay their salaries. Not listening to those whose entire secure livelihoods and career paths depend upon preaching and teaching things that will be acceptable to the religious majority. We in the church organizations, the church denominations, are prone to accept things as routine and normal that are at best man-made and ineffective, and at worst apostate. Tragically, and not unexpectedly, our current versions of “church” are built mostly upon the traditions of men.
Many of us, if we’re honest, will admit we’ve never seen one person come to Christ in our church services. We’ve seen Christians drift from church to church, and group to group, and so the mega-churches drained all the small churches…

EKKLESIA—NOT CHURCH. PART ONE. A. Brother ©2009-18 Narrowgate Publishing

The Greek word ekklesia is used over 100 times in the New Testament to describe what happens when God’s chosen and called out people gather together wherever they are. This word has been translated “church” in our Bibles. We need to see that this translation has become completely inadequate for describing what should happen when those who love God gather together. One of satan’s greatest and most important tasks on his daily agenda is to keep true followers of Christ apart. He is dedicated to separating those who love God from each other in any way he can.The enemy of our souls knows that when Christ’s men and women become filled with the Holy Spirit, and begin coming together not just to worship for an hour on Sunday, but gathering in earnest, in constant prayer, confessing their sins to one another, sharing with each other their earthly incomes and possessions, giving love with open hearts and hands, and in general be…

TEXT: The Book of Jonah
We who believe in Christ spend valuable time ringing our hands over the world’s ways, when we should be putting our hands to God’s plow and not looking back.  This is because we really don’t understand or believe in the true Sovereignty of our God over the world.  We think somehow all this is too much for Him to handle, and that He is constantly surprised by the evil that surrounds us.  Our faithless fear is unfounded.  God is sovereign over the earth, and indeed, He is never surprised.            We especially tend to ring our hands over our own sins, which of course need to be repented of in mourning, and with great regret.  But once repented of and turned from, these sins must not hold us back from the plow.  We must put our hands to God’s work once again without hesitation.  God is still on the throne, and His work still needs to be done in His Way.           Brethren, don’t we realize that God is …

"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." --1 Timothy 2: 1,2
My brothers and sisters in Christ.
The world is in the hands of the Evil One. He is working in every area of human life to separate us from God, and to prevent all people from knowing Christ. This includes politics. This includes business. This includes technology. This includes our every day world full of seemingly normal activities. His deceptions are far too clever for the spiritually blind to perceive. The world sees only what the Prince of the power of the air wants them to see.
Throughout history, God has made Christ Lord of all, the universe, and this planet. Christ is absolute Lord, with all authority from the Father.  We must understand these two facts co-exist, if we are to understand this w…

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.  After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church...However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband."--Eph. 5: 25-33
The great failing of men in our times, and perhaps all other times in history, has been our abdication of responsibility to be God's real men as judged by our treatment of women, and in particular, our wives.
Do not make excuses for your bad behavior toward your wives, men. We must fall on our knees before God and admit our sins, including this giant failure to treat them as Christ treats the Church, with love and respect, and tenderness, and compassion.

“Then they asked Him, ‘What must we do to do the works God requires?’  Jesus answered, ‘The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.’” John 6:28
The religious want religious answers.  This answer from the lips of the Son of God did not satisfy the religious then, and it will not satisfy you if you want religion now.
Religion seeks but never finds, because religion rejoices in its own activities, and in the search itself.  Religion wants prescriptions, and lists, and tasks.  Religion wants a clear outline of “minimum standards”.            Religion desires a physical house of worship and a creed and an organization.  Religion…
