A. Brother

          God’s Word is truth.
The truth stands forever, no matter whether all else stands or falls.
          The truth is timeless.
It always exists outside of time, which means it has always been and always will be.  Time has no meaning for or influence upon the truth.
          The truth is everywhere.
It is not bound by space limitations, as God is not bound by physical laws.  The truth is, as God is, and is all places at once.
The “gospel”—this Good News of the love and saving grace of God through His Son Jesus the Christ—does not depend for its existence, its truth, its timing, or its location upon space and time, or upon you and me.  We choose whether to believe the truth or to disbelieve the truth, but we cannot influence or change the truth.  It just IS, as the irrefutable laws of mathematics or physics cannot be influenced or changed by any man.
I must remind myself that my own life—bound by time and space and influenced or changed by the things that happen around me—is not like the truth.  On this earth we, as God’s creations, have severe limitations.  Yet God is not bound.  He lives everywhere, at all times, and in all places, and He never changes.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Heb. 13:8

“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends:
With the Lord a day is like a thousand years,
and a thousand years are like a day.”
2 Peter 3:8

Have your ever had a day that was so terrible, so full of hurt and heartache, pain and sorrow, humiliation, terror, grief—so awful that you’d never want to live it over again—a day that seemed to last a thousand years?
Jesus was there, beginning to end.  And He knew and felt every feeling with you during that “thousand year day”.
Do the years of your life—especially the good ones, full of joy and gladness—seem to fly by like a beautiful sunset?  Here one moment and gone the next?  Does “time fly” when you’re having fun?  Does it seem, as you get older, that we move slower and slower, and time sifts down through the hourglass faster and faster?
God wants us to understand that none of it matters.  That He lives outside of these artificial constructs of time and space, and so we live in Christ in heaven, outside of the same constraints, and we have already begun our eternal life with Him.
Jesus is with you, promising His eternal, never-ending joys when you will soon no longer have the constraints of time and space.
Thank God, the eternal and unchanging Father, that His Truth does not depend upon us.  He is the same God, the same in every way, “yesterday, today and forever.”

            He says to us:

“I have loved you with an everlasting love.”  --Jeremiah 31:3

Rest in the unchanging Lord today, our Lord of space and time and truth,  while all else around us heaves and drifts and washes away.
